Havana Silk Dogs are companion dogs through and through. Their small, yet sturdy size (9-11 inches, 7-13.5 pounds) and charming personalities make them perfect family pets. Their non-shedding coat is so luscious you just can't help but pet them!
Havana Silk Dogs are wonderful, loving, playful, enjoyable little dogs with big hearts of love. Their sole purpose in life is to be with and please their family. They enjoy being with you and we feel they are the perfect companion (of course, we may be a little biased).
Here at Selah Havana Silk Dogs all our dogs are family members first. They live with us, sleep with us, and go everywhere with us. They are a certain joy to have around. All puppies are raised in our home, loved and socialized from day one.

Dedicated breeders desiring to eliminate dwarfism and it's health issues from the Havanese breed discovered that in so doing they also produced a leaner, more elegant dog that more closely resembled the original dog of Cuba known as the Havana Silk Dog. Unfortunately this dog was no longer descibed in the modern Havanese standard due to revisions. We are dedicated to restoring the original Cuban type and maintaining the health of these lovely dogs.

New Champions: In March 2010 in Durham, NC several of our dogs earned their HSDAA Championships! We are so proud of them. You can see their championship photos on the Our Silks page. Each dog earned their Championship though the excellent showmanship of my lovely daughters, Krystina, Amanda, and Lizzie. Great job girls!

A BIG Congratulations and thank you to all our silky pups for being such troupers and entertaining us in the show ring. Really the Selah gang knows they are just part of the family (it is likely they think they are human) they are not show dogs, they are family dogs who just happen to go to shows with their family once in a while. They enjoy all the attention and getting to play with other dogs, but in their opinion there could be a lot less grooming involved.

May 2010: In Toledo, OH Tehas Sedoso Havana Daydreaming earned five points toward her HSDAA championship! Go Dee Dee, we are so proud of you. Dee Dee was expertly shown by my daughter Lizzie.
Welcome to Selah! A Havana Silk Dog is an elegant little dog with long silky (hypoallergenic) hair, dark almond eye, elegant neck with head held high and tail plumed over the back. They are mild mannered companions who are athletic and have a herding instinct. Silks desire to please and be your constant companion. While they have an elegant look, they are a fun-loving breed that excels at many things from agility to obedience to therapy work. They make wonderful family pets and excellent companions.
