Havana Silk Dogs are wonderful, loving, playful, enjoyable little dogs with big hearts of love. Their sole purpose in life is to be with and please their family. They enjoy being with you and are the perfect companion.
Here at Selah Havana Silk Dogs all our dogs are family members first. They live with us, sleep with us, and go everywhere with us. They are a certain joy to have around. All puppies are raised in our home, loved and socialized from day one.
Certified Havana Silk Dogs:
-are AKC registered Havanese
-have PASSED all health testing: BAER (hearing), CERF (eyes), hips, and patella's
-have passed a hands on exam verifying breed type; this means the dog meets the breed standard
-are verified free from Chondrodysplasia (a major health risk among the Havanese)
-have DNA on file
-are registered with the HSDAA

Selah is a Hebrew word meaning 'to pause, to contemplate, thoughtful reflection and weighing (considering) in good sound judgement', essentially, to stop and think about it. This is exactly the essence of our breeding philosophy. We believe in producing the very best puppies possible, that our puppies should meet the breed standard and should be healthy in structure and temperament. After all, if you spend the money to purchase a purebred dog, don't you want it to look and act like the breed should and be as healthy as possible?

Selah is a family affair. You will find us together doing all sorts of fun things with our silk dogs.
We are located in beautiful Northern Michigan, in the middle of vacation country. Summers on Lake Michigan and winters at the ski slopes or snowmobiling, tourist love it up here. For us, it is home to our nine (yes, 9) children, 4 silk dogs, a terrier and Aussie, as well as a few horses and goats.

Welcome to Selah! Our dogs are AKC registered Havanese and Certified Havana Silk Dogs registered with the HSDAA. They are companion dogs through and through. Their small, yet sturdy size (9-11 inches, 7-13 pounds) and charming personalities make them perfect family pets. Their non-shedding coat is so luscious you just can't help but pet them!
All our dogs are duel registered with the AKC as Havanese and with HSDAA and meet the requirements of both breed standards.

We love our dogs. They are not just show dogs, they are family members, going camping with us and enjoying agility. They are also therapy dogs who go with us to the local hospital and nursing homes to share their love and companionship.

All our dogs are dearly loved as members of our family. Our desire is to first enjoy this lovable breed within our family and then to provide healthy, happy pups to others who adore this breed.
We prefer our dogs to be on the lower end of the standard (9-10 inches, 7-10 pounds) and we try to breed to this also.
It is helpful if you let us know if you prefer a little smaller or larger dog, if you prefer a lap dog or beside you dog, a couch potato or agility dog. This way we can sort out the litter with your desires in mind so our puppies can go to homes where they will be loved and adored for their unique qualities.

Selah Breeding Philosphy
As Havana Silk Dog breeders we have a limited number of litters, usually only one or two per year. We are family based, and our goal is to produce, QUALITY, not quantity. The welfare of our dogs is always our first priority. Each and every puppy that we bring into this world is loved and we take our commitment to each puppy seriously. It is our desire to improve the breed within our breeding program. This requires paying special attention to health issues and the breed standard. Every breeding is carefully thought out for structure, type, health and temperament.
